VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Angove owned Nanya vineyards and premium growers in the Riverland region. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
2010 was an ideal vintage with some good rain events and improved inflows into the Murray Darling basin allowing vines to be well tended during the growing season. A short heat spike in November lead to some irregular flowering and set and subsequently reduced yield. The remainder of the growing period was excellent with abundant sunshine for ripening, yet cool nights to help retain flavour and natural acidity.
Picked late at night to harvest the grapes as cold as possible the grapes were transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After cold settling the clear juice was carefully racked to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling filtration and bottling at the Angove Family Estate.
WINEMAKERS’ NOTES:
This wine is bright and crystal clear with green hues. Freshly mown grass and citrus notes are apparent on the nose. Sauvignon Blanc gives the wine refreshing zing on the palate as the Semillon fills out the finish.
This wine is great as an aperitif or with seafood such as grilled fish.

Border Mail - Max Crus - 11.12.09 - 8/10 - also appeared in the Daily Advertiser and the Daily Examiner
'Great gift, a packet of pasta and some recipes with every bottle. Presumably the wine will go well with the recipes too, if it lasts that long.'
Illawarra Mercury - Kerry Skinner - 04.11.09
'A blend of fruit from South Australia's Limestone Coast that's part of the wider Angove portfolio. As the name suggests it's bright, aromatic and refreshing with tropical and citrus fruit flavours, nicely balanced acidity and a clean finish.'
Winestate Special Edition 2008 - Sauvignon Blanc & Blends Tasting - 3 Stars
"Delicate honeysuckle aromas lead onto a tight, crisp, lemon drop palate - very refreshing."
West Australian - Ray Jordan - 8.1.09 - Page 7 - 84/100
A really lean and angular blend with floral and lime aromas. Light-bodied palate with good intensity. Nice current-drinking wine. This is top quality wine for this price.
Winestate Limestone Coast Tasting - Nov/Dec 2008 3 Stars
Subtle, fragrant bouquet and a very soft palate with fresh lemon pie flavours that fill the mouth.
Quaff 2009, The Best Wines in Australia Under $15 - Peter Forrestal
Rated Pretty Good'
'This is a soft, round easy-drinking white blend under a new label for Angove's. There's some passionfruit flavours and very gentle acidity.'
Echo - David Plant - 8.11.08
"Brightlands is a new label from Angove's that takes advantage of the fruit produced from the cool climate and rich soils of their Limestone Coast vineyards. There are two wines bearing the Brightlands label, a crisp, clean 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend that will please the many fans of this wine style and a lovely rich, fleshy 2007 Cabernet Merlot that is exceptional value at its RRP of $15. These two excellent Limestone Coast wines should be appearing at your local liquor outlet in the very near future."

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:
We have selected the best grapes from vineyards in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia for this wine. The ancient soils of Wrattonbully and Padthaway coax the vines into producing stunning fruit. The Limestone bedrock allows excellent drainage and the sandy loam soils of this one time seabed are perfect for viticulture.
As with the rest of South Australia, the Limestone Coast continued to experience drought. Winter and spring rains brought some relief but supplementary irrigation was required to bring the vines through to harvest. The lower yields and benign conditions in February allowed us to harvest before the worst of the heat wave in March.
